The Dark Triad

Today, the GSW Crew is discussing the Dark Triad. The Dark Triad is a set of three personality traits that are often associated with negative and destructive behaviors. These traits are narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. Narcissism refers to an excessive focus on oneself, including a sense of entitlement and a lack of empathy for others. Machiavellianism involves a willingness to manipulate and exploit others for personal gain, often through deceit and cunning. Psychopathy is characterized by a lack of remorse, empathy, and impulse control, often leading to impulsive and antisocial behavior. These traits can be found in varying degrees in individuals, and while they may provide certain advantages in certain contexts, they are generally associated with negative outcomes for both the individual and those around them.

Today, the GSW crew responds to a video made by Candace Owens from the Daily Wire titled, “Therapy is Ruining Western Civilization.” Candace shares her views on why she thinks therapy is causing people to overshare and become overly sensitive, and the boys give their take on the subject.

Hunting for Resolution

Today, the GSW posse reviews a large-scale experiment on new year’s resolutions. Despite the popularity of New Year’s resolutions, current knowledge about them is limited. We investigated what resolutions people make when they are free to formulate them, whether different resolutions reach differing success rates, and whether it is possible to increase the likelihood of a resolution’s success by administering information and exercises on effective goal setting.

Grooming Catfish

Today, the GSW crew discusses the concept of catfishing and how it affects our clients. Apps and social media, it can be big business, with romance scams costing victims millions of dollars across the US every year. Current catfishing statistics project an even further upward curve over the coming years, and clients reentering society after incarceration trying to build a new social network should be vigilant of the dangers.

Tackling Toxic Masculinity

Today, the GSW crew tries to tackle the topic of toxic masculinity. We discuss the idea that manhood and masculinity represents a fixed, inevitable, and natural state of being, or if masculinity is something that is malleable and made, not given.

Mass Shootings & Mental Health

We’re super sorry for the delay in posting. I guess that’s just what happens on Summer break.  Either way, we’re stoked to be back in studio. Today we talk about the recent school shooting at Uvalde Elementary, our legislator’s response, and whether clinical professionals have the capacity to handle this as a mental health issue.
